The iPad is not a toy, but plenty of parents have discovered that the tablet provides riveting entertainment for their kids. The dilemma? That $500 device can drop and break in the hands of a child. M-Edge Accessories today launched its SuperShell for the iPad 2, a shock-absorbent foam bumper that wraps around the device and prevents damage from drops and rough play. At $30, it’s protection that's reasonably priced.
“The idea for the SuperShell came from a real-life experience when a friend told me the story of his 3-year-old son breaking his iPad’s screen after dropping it on the ground,” Adam Ashley, M-Edge’s chief technology officer, said in a statement.
The SuperShell is made with closed-cell foam that wraps securely around the iPad 2. The rear-facing camera and speaker are both accessible, with push buttons for volume and power control. The dimpled texture and ridges create a comfortable grip for hands of all sizes. High-impact corners absorb shocks. Drop it and the iPad bounces to safety unharmed.
The SuperShell is available at Best Buy and from the M-Edge website.
