For those looking for an even thinner iPad, the next generation of the device could meet expectations, but that thinness may come at a price.
According to reports from PC Magazine, Apple has asked two of their battery suppliers, Simply Technology and Dynapack International Technology, to provide thinner and lighter batteries for the newest version of the iPad.
The batteries produced by these companies will be both lighter and longer-lasting, but apparently will cost around 20 to 30 percent more than they did previously. It is possible that the new expense will cause the price of the iPad to increase.
Another report from Apple Insider indicates that the companies will begin making these batteries in the fourth quarter of 2011, which would put Apple on track to release the iPad 3 toward the beginning of 2012 . The projected launch date for the iPad 3 would probably not be long after that, as Apple has revealed the past two iPads around that same time in previous years.
