Although many have been anticipating an Apple-Verizon partnership for quite some time, the companies on Thursday announced an unexpected deal: The iPad will be available at over 2,000 Verizon Wireless Stores nationwide beginning Thursday, October 28.
The iPad Wi-Fi models will be available at Verizon locations, not the Wi-Fi + 3G models that only work on AT&T's network.
Verizon Wireless will offer three bundles with its MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot. Pricing will be $630 for 16GB, $730 for 32GB and $830 for the 64GB models of Apple's tablet.
Verizon is also offering a monthly access plan to iPad customers of up to 1GB of data for just $20 a month, as well as the three iPad Wi-Fi models on a stand-alone basis.
"We're thrilled to be working with Verizon Wireless to get iPad into the hands of even more customers this holiday season," said Tim Cook, Apple's COO.
