NASA has released a new iPad app catering to those who can't get enough of things beyond this earth. Now you can explore the galaxy through a touchscreen.
While the name, NASA App HD, is a little uninspiring, the content more than makes up for it. This app brings all kinds of media from NASA to the iPad, including NASA TV broadcasts, an image database , information on planets and space phenomena, details on past and future NASA missions, satellite tracking and even the Twitter stream of NASA astronauts.
The main page for the app itself is a representation of the Solar System (before you ask, yes, Pluto is missing in the planetary line-up). Tapping on the planets brings up instant information about them and access to pictures and media. And as the name of the app suggests, much of the content is in high-definition.
The NASA App HD is free to download and is available now.
