Apple was notoriously stingy with connection ports on the iPad. New images of Toshiba's upcoming tablet, the Smart Pad, show it will go the opposite direction.
Notebook Italia found some images of the rumored tablet. They confirm the Smart Pad will have HDMI-out and USB ports, along with what appears to be a mini-USB port. If that's not enough, the Smart Pad also comes with a memory card reader.
The port along the bottom is a proprietary connection, likely for charging or docking.
The Smart Pad is full of useful features, if the rumored specs turn out to be true: a 10-inch display, NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, webcam, built-in forward-facing speakers and the Android operating system . The four buttons along the side of the screen certainly seem designed for the Android interface.
Notebook Italia indicates the Smart Pad will get an official announcement at the IFA 2010 convention happening in Berlin next month. However, that and the exact specs remain a mystery, as far as Toshiba is concerned.
