An LG executive recently told the Wall Street Journal that its first tablet computer will be "better than the iPad."
LG is gearing up to launch an array of new devices, including 10 more smartphones, and a tablet by the fourth quarter under its Optimus line.
Rather than focusing on how it will display content, LG’s tablet will concentrate on the ability to create content, from writing documents, editing video and creating programs, according to Chang Ma, vice president of marketing for LG's mobile-devices unit.
The new tablet will also tout "high-end features and new benefits," many of which will focus on productivity, Ma said in the report.
The United States is expected to be a critical market for the LG device, but the wireless carrier involved with the distribution has not yet been named.
