A fresh version of the Barnes & Noble app for the iPad is out that adds and tweaks some useful features.
New brightness controls, for example, spare users from having to exit out into the settings to adjust the screen's glow . The two-page display option is cleaner-looking, and the font can go even smaller now for those with sharp eyes who want to devour as much text as possible per screen view.
The free sample e-books available from Barnes & Noble can also now be deleted while still inside the app.
These are heady days for fans of e-readers with major devices including Amazon's Kindle, Borders' Kobo, Barnes & Noble's Nook and, of course, the iPad all vying for market share. However, an ongoing e-book price war might keep driving prices up on digital literature.
