Sure, you could buy the standard Apple case for that precious new iPad. But why follow the crowd? Isn’t the whole purpose of buying an Apple product to think different?
If so, might as well go for a case whose name resembles a bad ‘80s shoe trend – the Gelli. Case-mate makes a whole series of translucent cases that are made with a flexible, thermoplastic material. There are two design lines with different color schemes available: the Checkmate series, which has a pseudo chess board design, and the kaleidoscope series, which include a funky, off-beat design. Throw in some translucent hot pink or "tomato" red and your iPad will definitely stand out in the crowd.
Each case costs $39.99 with free shipping directly from the case-mate web site. If the funky style is your thing, then case-mate’s collection of cases for the iPhone, iPod, MacBook or netbooks may be of interest.
The Gelli case is designed to fit snugly around your iPad, though there is no screen protection flap. So you will either have to take extra care of the screen or purchase an additional screen protector. The case-mate site says that the Gelli will protect the iPad from “minor impact and scratches.”Joule iPad Stand Stylish, Overpriced
